SMART Site Coordinator

Detailed Information

SMART Reading is recruiting virtual Site Coordinators — leadership volunteers who are vital to the success of the organization’s programs. From October through May, Site Coordinators provide program oversight during reading sessions, act as a key point of contact at SMART schools, and create a welcoming, organized environment for volunteer Readers and students. SMART simply cannot do their work without them.

The virtual Site Coordinator role is an incredible opportunity to make a difference in the lives of both adult volunteers and students when they need the support more than ever. Read more about this special role here.

To accommodate the changes and challenges from the pandemic, SMART Reading is rolling out new virtual programming in the 2021-22 school year to continue supporting children with reading engagement and books to keep. The organization is recruiting leadership volunteers to coordinate virtual programs and help fulfill their mission in schools across Coos and Curry counties.

SMART Reading is a statewide children’s literacy nonprofit that serves kids in Oregon’s highest need schools with two ingredients critical for literacy and learning success: one-on-one reading time and access to books. We mobilize volunteers to read with PreK through third-grade children, building confidence, literacy skills and a love of reading. Since 1992, we have paired over 144,000 volunteers to read with 233,000 children, and have put over 3 million books in the homes of the children we serve.
