Coos Healthier Together

Helping the region become healthier by bringing together food health stakeholders.

Our Goal

The 2019-2022 the Coos Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) identified four focus areas and within those, nine priority areas. Recognizing that significant work is already being done in many of these priority areas, Coos Healthier Together has opted to focus on 1-2 priority areas annually based on where the coalition could make a significant impact during that time frame. For 2020, Coos Healthier Together priority areas include:

• Coordination, Collaboration, Communication: Increasing coordination, collaboration, and communication between organizations working toward improving health of the community.
• Food & Nutrition: Supporting efforts to decrease food insecurity and increase availability of healthy, nutritious food for all ages.

Our stakeholder group grows regularly. Current members include Advanced Health, Advanced Health’s Consumer Advisory Council (CAC), Coos Health & Wellness Public Health, Coos County Friends of Public Health, United Way of Southwestern Oregon, Waterfall Community Health Center, Coast Community Health, South Coast Food Share, South Coast Head Start, South Coast Regional Early Learning Hub, Oregon Health and Science University Campus for Rural Health, Oregon State University Extension, Adapt, the Department of Human Services, the South Coast Education Service District, and Coos Head Food Co-Op.
