Today on November 6, 2020 the Coast Guard honored Curtis Green with the Distinguished Public Service Award in a small ceremony in Charleston, Oregon. Curtis Green was at his business in December 2019 when a boat capsized near him. He didn’t hesitate to grab a hammer and jump into the water…

“CHARLESTON, Ore. – Curtis Green saw the 40-foot Darean Rose get stuck on a sand bar the day after Christmas 2019 as he worked the dock at Russell’s Marine Fuel & Supply, his family’s business in Charleston.

Then the boat capsized.

Green yelled for someone to do something.

Then he looked around – and he got it done…”
