CCAT Public Transportation Service Changes

by | Mar 31, 2020 | COVID-19

  1. Effective 3/28/2020 until further notice all passenger fares are suspended.
  2. Effective 4/4/2020 Saturday service is suspended until further notice. (Saturday service will be provided on 3/29/20. No fares will be charged for this service)
  3. Effective 3/30/2020 Pirate & Bulldog fixed route service will be changed to deviated fixed route.
  • Deviated service is similar to fixed route. However, differences include but are not limited to:
    • Buses may deviate from the route to pick up or drop off passengers
    • ADA comparable paratransit service is not required
    • Paratransit service will be provided for essential trips only
  1. All public transportation meetings are canceled until further notice.
  2. Seating on all CCAT vehicles will be restricted as follows:
  • Every other row of seats will be closed to limit the number of passengers traveling at one time on a single vehicle.
  • Standees will not be allowed
  1. If riding the bus is absolutely necessary, CCAT asks passengers to stay six-feet away from other passengers and follow the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to reduce the exposure and spread of the coronavirus, including:
  • Keep six-feet away from other passengers (social distancing).
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

CCAD’s changes in service were made in conjunction with:

  1. Oregon Governor Kate Brown’s Executive Order 20-12 to Oregonians to stay home, stay safe (that includes not taking unnecessary trips aboard public transit buses and other public transportation services)
  2. The Coos County Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP)

Finally, we understand that all of these changes are inconvenient for people, especially for passengers who rely on CCAT as their primary or only means of transportation. They were not easy decisions to make, but they were made with an abundance of caution for our employees, passengers, and the public to limit their potential exposure to the COVID-19 coronavirus.
